Can you believe it. 24 people queuing for a breakfast table on Sunday morning at Sydney Inter Continental hotel. In all my years of staying at high level hotels, I have never experienced this. This is what one expects to see outside nightclubs.

Lovely hotel with beautiful views. Easy walk to the Opera House and Circular Quay. Rooms are very nice. Cafe in the foyer has good coffee. Overall service is good and rooms are beautiful. Only thing is when checking in, we felt like the staff were quite distracted and we were not greeted by anyone until we made attempt ourselves.

This was the nicest hotel we stayed at during our two AATKings tours in Australia. All the other hotels/motels were okay but the Intercontinental was the best! Great room, great shower and a great bed. The breakfast buffet was the best one too! If I return to Sydney, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Intercontinental again!

The hotel is very beautiful, the buffet breakfast is one of the best we have ever tried, food is top. From the check in to the check out it was a 5 stars experience. The staff made the difference, everyone is so efficient. Special thanks to Nicola Ruccio, he provided us an excellent service every single morning during breakfast, very qualify for his job as he goes beyond making sure we are happy with our stay. Also Chris, at the concierge, he was taking care of us and our little daughter from the day 1 until we checked out, always with a smile, he was always anticipating to our needs, so efficient, making us feel like we were at home with his warmth. This is what will make us to come back, the service from the heart of the staff, real luxury!

My wife and myself went to the Sydney Intercontinental for the weekend on an my Ambassador status deal where you pay for one night and get the other day free. I booked a King Classic Opera House View Club Lounge Access room which I got confirmation for via email, great all booked and confirmed which I checked and verified. Then another confirmation email came which I ignored thinking it was a mistake on their booking system with a duplicate email coming which was back in Feb 2024. when I booked. Anyway got the email from the hotel last week confirming my stay for last =weekend asking any requests or queries, which I responded to saying as per booking as we were there for our wedding anniversary. I again checked my booking on the system and for some reason now it said my room was King Classic Opera House View, dropping the club lounge access. Anyway spoke to reservations which was central and hopeless and fixed my room to what I had booked. So arrive and get the room I booked with no one category upgrade which should have been to the next category which was a 1 bedroom suite. They said I have already had one room category upgrade??? Anyway we will not be back after this debacle by hotel and reservations. Club lounge has magnificent views but food was below what was expected. On small round table of cold food and 2 offerings of hot food which was offered at each table in the evening drinks, and staff did an excellent job with the drinks. Morning breakfast was in the Aster lounge on the top floor which was very good and even better view of the city and harbour. In our option Sofitel Darling lounge is fair superior in food offerings and atmosphere with full glass floor to ceiling windows. Both Melbourne and Sydney Intercontinental lounge food offerings in the evenings was below average. The rooms bed was lumpy and needs replacing, and bathroom replenishment was poor. We won't be back.
